Focus on the Collections & Biodiversité Fund

This month, we focus on the Collections & Biodiversity Fund, of which GEVES is a founding member.

Created in 2021, the purpose of the Endowment Fund is to support all activities of general interest contributing to the inventory – including know-how -, characterisation, long-term management and promotion of the biodiversity of cultivated species and their wild relatives – excluding forest trees – whether in their natural environment, “on the farm” or in collections.

To rapidly launch concrete actions, the founding members wanted to bring the reason for being of the Collections & Biodiversity Fund to life by supporting projects from the very first year via a call for projects. A total of 8 projects were supported over an average period of 4 years.

Today, the Fund is looking to develop its reputation and its sponsors so that it can support even more projects. To this end, it has just been accredited 1% for the Planet and is now part of a collective of over 650 associations committed to environmental causes and over 1,200 French companies donating 1% of their annual turnover. The greater the number of companies involved, the greater the environmental impact.

GEVES welcomes this initiative and invites you to follow the Collections & Biodiversity Fund on the networks, where you can find out about the projects, follow the progress made and keep up to date with the latest news!
