The ILC organising laboratories

The ILC (Interlaboratory Comparison) is used to assess a laboratory’s ability to implement a method.

The GEVES laboratories organise ILCs in their areas of expertise and as part of their NRL (National Reference Laboratory) mandates. For example, under the GEVES Plant Health mandates, an ILC program is offered to networks of approved laboratories.

The laboratories recognised by SEMAE for seed certification purposes also benefit from an ILC program each season, decided by SEMAE’s Director of Quality and Official Control on the recommendation of the group of experts.

Other ILCs are organised on the initiative of GEVES or at the request of partners.

This activity considers the provisions of standard 17043 and relies on the expertise of the teams for the tests and species concerned.

Whatever the framework chosen by the person commissioning the ILC (the Ministry of Agriculture, SEMAE’s Quality and Official Control Department, UFS or other) and accepted by the participants, GEVES guarantees their anonymity and confidentiality. This guarantee is based on a coding system for identifying both participants and the samples sent.

Laboratories involved in compulsory ILCs are informed directly by the GEVES. For ILCs open to all laboratories, calls for expressions of interest are organised.

All the information on the ILC organised by GEVES is available on the GEVES website.
