Recommendations for sending seeds and seedlings to GEVES

There are several situations in which seeds may need to be sent to GEVES.

Depending on the situation and the country of origin of the consignment (France, EU or non-EU), the sender should follow certain recommendations.

Recommendations for sending samples from non-EU countries

Before any shipment, the sender must provide the GEVES station receiving the seed or seedlings with
  • The species concerned and their customs code.
  • The list of varieties.
  • The weight of the seeds sent.
  • The seed category (raw seed (vegetables), commercial seed, non-certified seed, pre-basic seed, basic seed, certified seed, standard seed).
  • The name of the country of production of each batch.
  • A copy “CHED” (Common Health Entry Document) if the species is subject to health controls.
  • A copy of the phytosanitary certificate, if required for the species.
  • Facture pro forma (commercial invoice).
  • The name of the carrier and, if possible, the tracking number or a copy of the transport note.
  • The name and e-mail address of a contact.
Shipping
  • The sender must affix the original phytosanitary certificate (if required), the pro forma invoice and the CHED (if this document is required) to the parcel. The exporter must ensure that the document is easily accessible to customs and health authorities on receipt in Europe (on the top of the box, plastic pocket).
  • Transport must be carried out using Incoterm DDP (Delivery Duty Paid).
  • Please note that if the carrier is not approved to handle customs clearance, GEVES will use a forwarding agent and charges will be billed to the sender. The sender is therefore strongly advised to use a carrier working with a forwarding agent.

ATTENTION: Transfer and customs clearance may take a number of days. GEVES is not responsible for this delay. The sender must therefore take this into account if a deadline for receipt is required by GEVES.
