It’s sow time at GEVES!

In collaboration with the Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, GEVES hosted students from the “It’s sow time!” Summer School, which took place from 6 to 10 July in Angers.

The objective of this summer school was to provide a deep understanding of the entire seed sector in link with agroecology and climate change resilience. The 30 students and research professors, from 12 different countries, visited the National seed Testing Station facilities and discovered seed quality testing methods, as well as the Anjouère experimental station and the official trials for evaluating crop varieties for registration in the National Catalogue.

These insights, together with exchanges on the regulations on variety registration and Plant Breeders’ Right, with experts from GEVES and CPVO, helped students to engage in group discussions on the adaptation of varieties to climate change, ecosystemic plants, organic farming, holobiont, and new genomic techniques.
