GEVES presents the ISTA Annual Meeting 2026

The ISTA Annual Meeting took place last week in Calgary, Canada. The Annual Meeting began with a day-long seminar focusing, on the one hand, on the organisation of variety registration and seed certification in North America and, on the other, on the potential of AI-based methodologies and recent developments in this field.

This was followed by two days of presentations on the work of each technical committee and one day of the general assembly.

Several GEVES members had travelled to the event and, depending on their role within ISTA (chair or vice-chair of a technical committee), presented their committee’s work.

At the General Assembly, all proposed amendments to the ISTA Rules, available on the ISTA website, were adopted. They will become effective on 1 January 2027.

At the end of the congress, the role was handed over from Canada to France, as the next event will take place in Angers, with the support of GEVES.

You can find the programme, new rules and seminar presentations here.
