EU DUS experts for agricultural plants meet with CPVO

European DUS experts on agricultural plants met with the CPVO in October, via videoconference, to discuss protocols and harmonisation of DUS testing practices. Discussions took place regarding the inter-Examination Offices trial designed to harmonise methods for assessing Maize characteristics. Due to the pandemic, experts from the different Offices were unfortunately unable to visit the trial. GEVES presented and shared several points:

  • the use of an additional characteristic in Oilseed rape DUS testing, aiming to distinguish varieties with HOLL oil profile (high oleic low linoleic).
  • its involvement in the writing of CPVO DUS protocols for Lucerne and Cocksfoot, and the revision of the Hemp protocol.
  • the interim results of the ongoing project for developing SNP markers on winter oil seed rape.
