Specific preparation of rusts on cereals

Since 2009, GEVES has been maintaining and producing rusts on cereals. Each year, the pathology laboratory multiplies the races selected by the experts of the CTPS based on the results of the annual epidemiological studies carried out by INRAE of Bioger within the framework of the tests of inscription of the varieties to the National Catalogue.

The races of yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis) and brown rust (Puccinia recondita) pathogen on wheat and triticale, as well as the races of crown rust (Puccinia coronata) pathogen on oat are available in the form of spore pills for secondary inoculation on seedlings. Yellow rust is also supplied as trays of infected seedlings that can be transplanted as a primary infection source.

The 2025 production is now launched at GEVES. Orders can be done at GEVES and until end January for trays (contact : jean-philippe.maigniel@geves.fr) and March for pills (contact: service.clients@geves.fr).
