Ornamental Expert Meeting 2025

On 15 and 16 April 2025, the CREA of Sanremo, recently entrusted to carry out DUS examinations on Anemones and Ranunculus, hosted the annual meeting of ornamental plant experts organized by the Community Plant Variety Office.

The Belgian, German, Hungarian, Italian, Dutch, Polish and French examination offices, as well as representatives from Plantum and CIOPORA, participated in this meeting, during which numerous general and technical topics were discussed, including the DUS examination protocol for the species Plectranthus scutellarioides (L.) R. Br (syn. Solenostemon scutellarioides (L.) Codd).

Our Italian counterparts also presented their laboratories, research activities and DUS trials during a technical tour of the testing station. The experts present also had the opportunity to visit Biancheri Creazioni, a breeding and production company for Renunculus varieties.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place via videoconference in the fall of 2026.
