NRL for Plant Health proactive for ISTA rules

The pathology laboratory has validated a new disposable container (fig. 1) which eliminates the risk of cross-contamination as well as the washing and control steps, thereby improving efficiency. The detection of nematodes involves the use of a sieve (fig. 2) during the extraction step. This step involves risks of cross-contamination and requires intensive washing and checking of each sieve before re-use. A rule proposal of method 7-0031, for the use of a new container as an alternative, has been submitted to ISTA.
