CTPS Potato Section

The Potato CTPS Section met by videoconference on 20 June 2025.

A presentation on regulatory developments was given by the DGAL. The draft PRM Regulation (regulation on reproductive material) was of particular interest to the Section. As the CTPS is the Ministry’s consultative body, the importance of the CTPS in relaying the needs of professionals to the Ministry and, on the other hand, in enabling the Ministry to consult the Section during future negotiations was reiterated.

The VSCU assessment of True Potato Seed (TPS) was also the subject of much discussion. As this type of material must be governed by the PRM regulations, the CTPS Potato Section set up a dedicated working group to define the conditions under which the VSCU assessment of this type of material can be carried out.
