17th European Seminar on Fusarium, Bordeaux

The European Fusarium Seminar is a scientific forum focusing on advances in all areas related to Fusarium research, ranging from phytopathology and mycotoxins to new alternatives for controlling these pathogenic fungi, which have a significant impact on many economically important crops.

This 17th edition entitled “Fusarium in a world of interactions” brought together this scientific community, with around 120 participants from 21 countries in Europe, North America and South America.

GEVES presented one of its projects involving the identification by barcoding of different Fusarium species isolated from cereal seeds and responsible in particular for Fusarium head blight (FHB). This ISTA-funded project, coordinated by Mylène Ruh (Detection projects Lead at BioGEVES Detection Unit) and involving numerous partners from around the world (NIBIO – Norway, CREA – Italy, SASA – United Kingdom, Vitalab – Chile, 20/20 SeedLabs – Canada, SGS Crop Science – Canada and NAK – Netherlands), enables the GEVES pathology laboratory and Detection Unit to contribute to the fight against FHB by detecting and identifying Fusarium species transmitted by cereal seeds.
