GEVES training cooperation project in Algeria

Alain Tridon, CEO of GEVES, took part in the “Seeds and Seedlings” seminar held in Algeria on 3 and 4 May, which brought together a large number of Algerian and Frenchplayers from the public and private sectors. The seminar was made up with presentations, workshops and visits, and provided an opportunity to discuss development strategies, trade procedures and seed health requirements. The seminar also saw the launch of a cooperation project between GEVES and its Algerian counterpart, the CNCC, to support the upgrading of Algerian systems for variety identification and agronomic and technological value testing, financed by the French Embassy. Over two years, GEVES will lend its expertise in variety description and evaluation (DUS and VCUS trials, molecular biology analysis) and in contributing to regulations concerning variety listing and plant variety protection.
