CPVO renews GEVES entrustment for DUS tests

GEVES had its entrustment renewed to conduct DUS tests on a list of over 500 different botanical species covering agricultural, vegetable, fruit and ornamental species. An extension of the entrustment scope was granted to the following species:

  • Apium gravelolens L. var rapaceum (celeriac) , as of 1 January 2019,
  • Brassica juncea L. (agricultural type) (brown mustard), as of 1 January 2019,
  • Brassica rapa L. var. rapa L. (turnip), as of 1 January 2019,
  • Trifolium incarnatum (red clover), as of 1 September 2022,
  • Trifolium resupinatum L. (Persian clover), as of 1 September 2022,

This decision, validated by the CPVO Administrative Council meeting on 31 March 2023, follows the audit of the CPVO quality audit service conducted in September 2022 on several experimental sites of GEVES and its subcontractors, during which the expertise and competence of the GEVES, INRAE and CIRAD DUS teams were praised.

The DUS tests conducted at GEVES or its subcontractors can therefore be used to issue a Community Plant Variety Right for the many species included in the scope of entrustment.
