Evaluation of resistance of Asparagus to Fusarium

Since 2020, the GEVES pathology laboratory has been conducting resistance testing on asparagus (Asparagus spp) to fusarium wilt:

  • Fusarium moniliforme, causal agent of rot in the upper part of the crown.
  • Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. asparagus, causal agent of yellowing and stunting of plants in the field in the form of outbreaks.

GEVES now offers a service to evaluate the resistance of varieties to these two fungi. This can be carried out using seeds or in vitro plants of commercial hybrids or parental lines, whether for cultivated asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) or ornamental (A. densiflorus). The test highlights the level of susceptibility and resistance of the varieties studied.

The testing period will begin in automn 2026. For further information, please contact service.client@geves.fr
