The CTPS Potato Section

At its meeting on 24 January 2025, chaired by Mr Hervé Durand and with its new membership for the 2024-2029 term of office, the CTPS Potato Section’s missions and operations were presented, as well as the strengths of the French Catalogue.

The section proposed the registration of two new consumption potato varieties and one starch variety on list A of the French Official Catalogue, and one variety on list B.

These varieties offer the following advantages in particular:

  • The Pétillante consumption variety is now included in the “Firm Flesh” category.
  • The Toutatis consumption variety has a high environmental rating (=5) and is therefore eligible for CEPP under Action sheet 2017-17 variety “reduce the number of fungicide treatments in potatoes by using varieties with low susceptibility to mildew”.
  • The SI204 starch variety has been awarded the Agroecology – Starch label.
