Service plants: the CTPS’s CISPS steps up its experimental work

The CTPS Inter-Sections Commission dedicated to Service Plants (CISPS) met on 13 and 14 October 2025 in Lusignan. Since its creation in 2014, this is the first time it has organised a meeting outside Paris.

Hosted by INRAE’s Multidisciplinary Research Unit for Grasslands and Forage Crops (URP3F) in Lusignan, CISPS was able to alternate between indoor meetings and visits to the service plant trials conducted at the station. Three types of trials were presented to the experts:

  • official CTPS trials for registration (GEVES),
  • research trials (INRAE),
  • demonstration trials (Chamber of Agriculture).

This visit fostered rich and constructive discussions, which contributed to the commission’s work.

During the plenary sessions, many subjects were discussed, such as:

  • the newly formed Plant Pests Commission,
  • the evaluation of rapeseed varieties that trap pollen beetles,
  • the optimisation of the VSCU evaluation of service plants,
  • approval of CTPS witnesses for 2026 deposits,
  • the work of the SEMAE Innovation Commission on service plants,
  • CEPP fact sheet n° 2025-091 «Choosing a multiservice mix as intercropping cover to reduce the use of plant protection products »
  • CISPS outlook
  • regulatory developments currently under discussion at European level on Plant Reproductive Material (PRM) and New Genomic Techniques (NGT),
  • referral to the Scientific Committee on climate change.

A moment enjoyed by all, which helped strengthen ties between experts and share advances in service plants in a pleasant setting.
