GEVES at the Biosolutions25 International Congress

From September 23 to 26, the city of Perpignan hosted the first edition of the International Biosolutions Congress, organised by the French-speaking BioV network, in partnership with COST MiCropBiomes (CA22158) and RMT Bestim.

This event brought together over 200 researchers, industry professionals and representatives from technical and scientific institutions to discuss the major challenges associated with biosolutions (biocontrol, biostimulants, bioprotectors): mechanisms of action, efficiency, modelling, practical applications, etc.

GEVES was represented by Ophélie Dubreu, Head of Biocontrol Seed Treatment Evaluation at the Pathology Laboratory, and Audrey Dupont, Method Development Manager at the Germination Laboratory.

Ophélie Dubreu gave an oral presentation alongside Klervi Crenn (Végénov), entitled “SeedBioProtect project: Evaluation of seed treatment to control damping off in wheat and tomato“. This presentation highlighted the results obtained as part of the SeedBioProtect project, in which GEVES coordinates one of the research areas. The aim of this project is to characterise the metabolic and molecular defence mechanisms of seeds during their development, maturation and germination, in order to develop new protection strategies.

Audrey Dupont presented a scientific poster entitled “Measuring the effect of biostimulants used in seed treatment on the early root development of tomato and oilseed rape crops“. This work demonstrates the impact of biostimulants on root system development from the earliest stages of plant growth and highlights the results obtained as part of GEVES’s evaluation of seed-applied biostimulants.

This congress was an excellent opportunity for scientific outreach. It also helped to strengthen collaborations and foster the emergence of new partnerships for GEVES in the field of biosolutions.

Opening of the congress by Cédric Bertrand, President of RFE BIOV
