INVITE: 2nd Annual Meeting of the EU Variety Evaluation Project

The European project INVITE (INnovations in plant VarIety Testing in Europe) aims to improve variety evaluation methods and the information available to decision-makers and farmers on varietal performance in relation to biotic and abiotic conditions. More than 100 participants met virtually on 16 and 17 November to discuss the progress of this project in developing phenotyping tools, molecular markers and innovative variety testing methods.

A particular focus was placed on the analysis of historical varietal data, which aims to identify agro-pedo-climatic zones across Europe, and to improve the prediction of variety behaviour in a wide range of environments and growing conditions.
