Missions

The main official missions of GEVES are to conduct the studies for  :

• the registration of all new vegetal varieties in the offical catalogue
• the legal protection of plant breeders' rights
• the certification of seeds before their markting, for the species submitted to statutory certification.

To accomplish its missions, GEVES conducts activities as

• Description of varieties and evaluation of genetic progress
• Assessment of seed quality
• Methodological research
• Management of genetic ressources
• Trainings
• International cooperation
• Leading of a the national network of laboratories for seed analysis.
• Organisation of inter-laboratory tests
